Embers is a solo classical guitar instrumental. It is written in standard tuning. The song centers around E minor 9th, one of my favorite chords to play around with. I just love adding the F# to the E minor chord. The vibe of the song is very contemplative – and tries to capture the feeling of sitting in front of a fireplace thinking about ones life. The B section of the song incorporates a simple yet stirring ostinato that climbs and descends the way flames would in a fire.
